  • “I went red alive, and I didn’t know what to say.”

This week, Prince William and Prince Harry will reunite on July 1, what would have been their mother’s 60th birthday, to unveil a statue of her in the sunken gardens of Kensington Palace.

This unsurprisingly evoked a wave of memories and anecdotes of Princess Diana, from the sweet letters she wrote to her last phone call with her.

While remembering his mother in the past, Prince William shared a story about his mother’s “bad” sense of humor, explaining how he once invited three supermodels into his house to surprise him.

    Yes, really.

“It organized when I came back from school to have Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell waiting at the top of the ladder,” she explained. “I was probably a 12- or 13-year-old boy who had posters on his wall.”

“I went into a red light, and I didn’t really know what to say and kind of snorted and thought I had just fallen down the stairs on the way,” the Duke of Cambridge continued. ‘I was completely and utterly amazed. It was a very funny memory that has lived with me forever … ‘

“We will do nothing more,” Prince William explained years ago as they shared memories in a documentary screening at Kensington Palace.

“We won’t talk openly and publicly about her again, because we think we hope this film provides the other side: from her family and closest friends, who you might not have heard of before, from those who know her best, and those who want to protect their memory and want to remind people of the person they were. ‘

He continued, “Harry and I feel very strongly that we want to celebrate his life, and this is a tribute from his children to her.”
